Attendance and Latecoming

As you are already aware pupil attendance and late coming is of the utmost importance to ensuring your pupil has the educational experience they deserve.

Pupil safety and welfare is paramount and I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our Managing Attendance Procedures:-

Parents/Guardians must inform the school by letter or telephone if their child is likely to be absent for some time and give the child a note on his/her return to school confirming the reason for absence. Please give the following information:

  1. Name and class of pupil

  2. Inclusive dates of absence

  3. Precise reason for absence or late coming

  4. Signature of Parent or Guardian.

Please telephone the school initially to let us know if your child is unwell and won’t be attending that day. We only have one telephone line so please persevere.

We will do a register check of all classes at the start of the school day and if we have not heard from home by 9.30am we will contact you via a telephone call or text message to confirm the whereabouts of your child.

Also, I would like to remind you that latecoming – even 10 minutes each day (almost one hour per week!) can result in your child missing out. Please try your best each day to allow your child to be in school before 9.00am to allow them to mix with their peers and be ready to line-up at 9.00am sharp.

I would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation and support with this important matter.

The school crossing patrol is situated at the school gate on Shettleston Road.

In the interest of safety, children in primary 1-3 must hand their school bag over the fence to the person collecting them. This allows the members of staff to know that the child is being collected before they leave the school premises.

If your child cannot see who is collecting them,  they should stay with a member of staff who will ensure that they return to the building to await collection.

No adults are allowed in the playground.

Children attending Tic-Tacs or Buddies are allocated a designated area where they should meet with the after school care staff.
